Aldabra tortoise
Tortles are reptiles in biological taxonomy. The common name of the genus Elephantus is the largest of the terrestrial turtles. It is named after its legs, which are as thick as elephant feet. Scattered in Africa, America, Asia and islands in Oceania.
Tortoises mainly eat plants, especially dark green plants. Measured by their exoskeleton (shell), species of the genus Turtle are the largest tortoises in the world, especially the Galapagos tortoise, which can grow up to 6 feet, or 1.8 meters. They often rest in flat swamps and grasslands. During drought periods, they live on foggy mountain tops. It feeds on grass, wild fruits, giant palms, etc.
The genus Turtle includes 12 species. Red-legged tortoise, Chilean giant tortoise, yellow-legged tortoise, Indian star tortoise, Aldabra giant tortoise, Galapagos giant tortoise, leopard tortoise (confirmed introduction), Burmese star tortoise, rayed tortoise, Sulcata tortoise, Angoloca giant tortoise, Geochelone atlas (extinct).
Elephant tortoises can live three to four hundred years. Although giant tortoises live on islands, they only drink fresh water. Occasionally, in order to find fresh water to quench their thirst, they can crawl several kilometers to find water sources, and bury a large amount of water in their bladders when drinking water. When local people are short of water, they often drain the water from the turtle's bladder and drink it to quench their thirst. Elephant tortoises are afraid of hot sunlight and like to live in the shade of trees. When the rainy season arrives, elephant tortoises climb down from the mountains to live. After the dry season, we climbed back into the foggy ridges. It can crawl 6 kilometers a day. Even if two people stand on the back of the turtle, it can still crawl. Interestingly, local people regard the huge and brittle turtle shell as a baby's cradle.
